The focus of the Montague School curriculum is the holistic view that the student is the centre of the learning experience. All curriculum content and experiences offered to students at Montague School are purposefully and consciously considered in light of how and when the activity or knowledge will best support the student’s natural development. Students progress from subject or coursework unit to another when they are ready – not because of age or the end of a calendar year. Teachers track student development along with academic, physical, social, emotional and self-direction (and attendance) continually to work out the optimal time for them to progress to the next level. The aim of the progression process is to be joyful and exciting; where students feel empowered by the transition knowing it has been deserved.
